Individual Support:
Compass Gallery is Glasgow’s oldest established contemporary art gallery in the west of Scotland. We curate regular, innovative and challenging new exhibitions of paintings, prints, drawings and three-dimensional work by today’s contemporary artists.
We have the specific aim of promoting and supporting the careers of newly emerging talent, presenting the work of these artists to the public. Compass Gallery, with its longstanding reputation, provides the opportunity to view, discuss and experience these exciting exhibitions in a friendly, intimate space and at major U.K. art fairs.
The gallery’s status, founded as a registered, not-for-profit charity, enables the impartial selection of works on the basis of skill and creativity rather than on its commercial viability, thus allowing us to introduce new ideas and stretch the imagination. We aim to encourage a habit of collecting original works of art, which helps to sustain the living of working artists in Scotland today, and through acquisition, enrich the lives of the viewer.
Our work of keeping the doors of Compass open to the public relies entirely upon commission from sales, private donations from individuals and companies who recognize and support the uniqueness of Compass and the voluntary efforts of the directors. Compass, a public gallery with a non-commercial policy such as this can only remain open with the help of financial support, sponsorship and funding. The Gallery receives a small amount of support from Glasgow City Council, but this is not enough and it needs your help.
