Phil Braham


Born in Glasgow in 1959, Braham studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee D.A (Painting ) 1976-80 and the following year graduated with a Postgraduate in Painting ( Special Commendation) from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague, Holland.

He was a visiting artist at the University of California in Los Angeles from 1981-82 and took part in an International Exchange Workshop in Valencia, Spain. He lectured briefly at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen and now lives and works in Edinburgh.

He has had several solo exhibitions at The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh ; Raab Gallery, London ; Compass Gallery ; Galleri Christian Dam, Copenhagen ; Boukamel Gallery,London and Galleri Christian Dam, Oslo to name a few.

Most recent group exhibitions and awards include Royal Scottish Academy, 169th Annual Exhibition Top Prize winner: Guthrie Award ; “Die Kraft Der Bilder”(the Power of Images) Kunstlersonderbund in Deutschland ; Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin ; Noble Grossart / Scotland on Sunday Painting Prize Edinburgh Finalist ; Christie’s London ; Artaid 98, Edinburgh City Arts Centre ; “Art from Scotland” Forbes Magazine Galleries, New York ; Art and Nature Botanic Gardens, Cagliari, Sardinia and “Mountain” Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Museum, Wolverhampton.
